High School learners in Sekhukhune stripped half naked by principal for forgetting their calculators
The Department of Education's spokesperson, Sam Makhondo says they will be conducting an investigation into the matter
LIMPOPO – Around 18 learners from Ntwampe Technical High School in Moroke village in the Sekhukhune District were allegedly forced to strip half naked by the school’s principal for forgetting their calculators at home.
According to information received, both male and female learners were forced to strip half naked and were allegedly paraded in front of their fellow school mates by the principal during an assembly in the sun. Information also indicates that among the 18 learners were six girls who were forced to take off their bras.
Review spoke to the spokesperson for the Limpopo Department of Education, Sam Makhondo, who said that the allegations have come to the department’s attention.
“We will be conducting a thorough investigation into the matter and we will take appropriate action following the conclusion of that investigation,” he said.
Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed to Review that a case of indecent sexual assault has been opened.
“No arrests have been made as yet, pending police investigations,” he said.
