Lepelle waterworks resumes pumping of water to Mokopane

This after a power failure at the plant on Monday due to a storm in the area

MOKOPANE – Power at Lepelle Waterworks has been restored and water is  currently being pumped to town.

Yolande Coetzee, DA Ward Councillor explains that the underground system must now be filled and the levels of the reservoirs must first rise in order for all areas to receive water.

“If there is no power outage today, water supply to the town should be fully restored by late afternoon,” Coetzee concluded.


MOKOPANE  – After being placed on a sever thunderstorm watch, Mokopane received a fair amount of rain this afternoon (Monday, 14 January).

Following the storm the town has been been experiencing power outages and the water supply has been disrupted due to a power failure at Lepelle waterworks.

Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) is  unable to pump water due to a the ongoing power outage at the waterworks, says Yolande Coetzee, DA Ward Councillor.

Municipal technicians are working to restore power to the town and waterworks, she adds.
