“Richwell Moeng was found guilty of murdering Daniel Ramaepadi from Ga-Motodi village outside Burgersfort, a former teacher and an HOD at a local High school. On 22 July 2017, the deceased was shot and killed at his home by unknown gunmen who further hijacked his car and fled the scene. The car was found abandoned two days later, some kilometres away from the scene, at the Mashifane Park sports field in the Tubatse policing policing area, outside Burgersfort,” Ngoepe explained.

Following the murder, a special task team’s investigations led to the arrest of the wife of the deceased (37) and her boyfriend (42) and the hitman (accused) on 5 December 2017.

“The two remaining suspects, who are out on bail, are expected to hear their fate when they appear in Limpopo High Court soon.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has warmly welcomed these sentences. The General has also applauded the members of the South African Police Service for their outstanding performance displayed during this complex case.

“These should serve as a deterrent to all the criminals out there who are still perpetrating any form of criminality including planned domestic related killings,” concluded General Scheepers.
