Two men arrested in Eers Bewoon in possession of 1 108 sachets of Nyaope

Police say they also arrested a 25-year-old man in possession of nyaope on the corner of Rissik and Joubert Street in Polokwane

LIMPOPO – Police in the province continue their hard work in eradicating drugs through intelligence led joint operations.

This, police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says, resulted in the arrest of four suspects in different areas of the province, in possession of drugs.

In the Modimolle Cluster, two suspects were arrested for possession of 1108 sachets of nyaope.

“Police were observing a possible drug operation in the area when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. They followed the vehicle to a shack in the Eers Bewoon area and waited for the suspects to enter. The two were arrested for possession of drugs and cash was also confiscated from them,” Ngoepe explained.

Meanwhile, in the Polokwane CBD, a 25-year-old man was arrested for possession of nyaope on the corner of Rissik and Joubert Streets.

“Police noticed a suspicious man and immediately searched him. During the process, the suspect was found in possession of 117 sachets of nyaope, as well cash amounting to R4 289.60,” he said.

In the Northem area, outside Bela-Bela, a 42-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs along Middle Street.

“The suspect was observed, cornered and arrested following a tip-off from the community. He was searched and three sachets of cocaine were found in his possession,” Ngoepe added.

The arrested suspects will appear before various Magistrate Courts around the province, soon.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has applauded communities for supplying reliable information to the police, which led to the arrests.
