Limpopo Economic Development Agency (Leda) chief executive officer (CEO) Ben Mphahlele and chief financial officer (CFO), Matsobane Matlwa recently vacated their positions at the organisation.
Leda Board of Directors chairperson Mofasi Lekota informed in a statement that Mphahlele retired on 18 January but graciously agreed to give the agency of his time until the end of the month while Matlwa resigned and vacated his position with effect from 1 March.
Matata Mokoele would act in the position of CEO and Fhumulani Magidi as CFO with effect from 1 March. Lekota emphasised that Mphahlele had played a critical role in the development and success of the entity, particularly in bringing traction to the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) mega projects in Musina-Makhado as well as in Tubatse. “His commitment to the province’s pursuit to advance the economic interests of its people is evidenced by his passion and dedication to the work of Leda,” Lekota stated.
“We are all grateful for the work that Mphahlele has done in the past few years since joining Leda in 2016 and hope that he will avail himself to assist us whenever we might need his expertise and knowledge. While we think Matlwa’s departure from the agency is too soon we are thankful for his contribution during his few months stay with us. I am grateful for the willingness of Mokoele and Magidi for availing themselves to take on added responsibilities,” Lekota explained, and concluded by urging the team to give the duo the support they need to keep the organisation moving in the right direction.
