POLOKWANE – Not sure under which policing sector your area falls? South African Police Services Polokwane Communications Officer, Warrant Officer Lesiba Ramoshaba explains how the different sectors within Polokwane are divided.

Sector policing is a policing initiative whereby the service area of a police station is divided into smaller, manageable areas known as sectors. This allows the the police to work more closely with the community to make sure all criminal elements are identified and eliminated.

He also explained how having different sectors enable the police to be more effective in the fight against crime.

WO Ramoshaba further encouraged the community to attend the community policing forum (CPF) sector meetings in their area. “The sector commanders engage with local churches and the business sectors but we need everyone onboard and encourage the public to attend sector crime policing meetings to give their input on how the community, in a joint effort with the police, can combat crime.”
