Vhembe welcomes new councillors
The Mayor of Vhembe, Dowelani Nenguda has urged councillors who were sworn in recently, to work hard towards delivering better services to the communities.
LIMPOPO – “We want hard-working councillors who are ready to deliver better services to the communities, especially water services. They have to understand they must serve the people in all that they do,” said Nenguda.
The mayor said councillors’ duties include going to the communities to ascertain what the challenges are, instead of sitting in the office.
He spoke during a special council meeting, which was held in the parliamentary buildings in Thohoyandou last Tuesday, during the welcoming and swearing- in of new councillors.
The new councillors who were sworn in during the ceremony are:
Dr Gladys Nethengwe replaces Florence Radzilani, Eunice Nekhunguni replaces Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and Grace Mokoena who replaces Lillian Managa.
The Chairperson of the Vhembe House of Traditional Leaders, Thovhele Vele Kutama said they were ready to work with new councillors for the delivery of services in the communities.
One of the councillors, Dr Gladys Nethengwe said they welcome their deployment to the Vhembe District Municipality and were ready to work hard towards the development of their communities.
