Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba welcomed the sentencing of Takalani Godfrey Radzilani, 38, to life imprisonment by the Thohoyandou High Court last week following his conviction on a charge of murdering his girlfriend in April 2016.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Radzilani was arrested in April 2016 in connection with a domestic-related incident which led to the death of his girlfriend Portia Raselabe (32).
Radzilani stabbed Raselabe several times with a sharp object at Zone 1 in the Mphephu Policing precinct outside Thohoyandou.
Neighbours who heard the woman screaming for help alerted the Police who responded immediately and on the scene found a woman lying in a pool of blood in addition to having sustained serious injuries to her head. Emergency services were called but upon arrival declared that the victim had expired, according to Ngoepe.
