A shoot-out between Police and three suspected members of an alleged trio crime syndicate resulted in one being killed after they were intercepted at a tavern at Malamulele Sunday morning.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the other two suspects managed to evade arrest during the shoot-out.
He remarked that the three suspects allegedly robbed a shop owner of his car, cash, cigarettes and airtime vouchers at Halahala Village at about 01:00 before fleeing the scene.
Police were notified and immediately started with their initial investigations. They followed up on all possible leads and located the stolen vehicle strategically parked outside a tavern, according to Ngoepe. He added that Police waited next to the vehicle when the suspects allegedly opened fire. Police retaliated and one suspect was shot and killed in the process while two others managed to escape.
A firearm with 14 rounds of live ammunition as well as the items robbed earlier were found on the scene.
A manhunt for the remaining suspects continues.
