One arrested after trio rob Polokwane gambling business

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday, 30 August after he and two accomplices robbed a gambling business of an undisclosed amount.

POLOKWANE – In a statement, Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngeope said it is alleged that the employees were closing up for the evening, when the three unknown men accosted them, insisted on gambling and held them at gunpoint. The trio then used a grinder to open the safe and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

The police were alerted about a business robbery in progress at a business in the city at around 19:45 and arrived on the scene to find that the three men had already fled. The police traced the trio and managed to arrest the accused and recover a firearm, money and house breaking equipment.

The other two men managed to evade arrest and the police urge anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the duo, to contact Colonel Linky Mathebula at 064 756 8218. Alternatively contact the crime stop number at 0860010111 or the nearest police station.

The accused will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon.
