Four persons who allegedly attacked a couple with knives and pangas and gang-raped a 24-year-old woman in Seshego last week, were among several suspects arrested during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by Police on the weekend and lasting until Monday morning.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that four men armed with knives and pangas reportedly attacked a couple at their house and robbed them of personal belongings after allegedly gang raping the woman. They fled the scene on foot

and Police worked around the clock to apprehend the suspects. The suspects, aged between 21 and 32, were expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court earlier this week.
A cell phone, microwave oven, DVD player, speaker, subwoofer, tracksuit and sneakers allegedly belonging to the couple as well as a panga and a butcher’s knife were confiscated during the arrest.
Meanwhile in the Lephalale Cluster, members of the Crime Intelligence Unit, joined by the Witpoort Detectives conducted an operation tracing suspects involved in burglaries allegedly committed at various schools earlier this month. Three suspects aged 22, 23 and 32 were nabbed at different locations. During their arrest Police recovered three laptops and nine tablets.
The suspects will appear in respective magistrate’s courts in due course.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba commended all members involved in the operations, including other role players and urged members of the community to continue working closely with the Police by providing them with reliable information until crime is stabilised in the province.
