Hockey players from various schools in the province converged on Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos (Oosskool) recently to participate in a Mini-Hockey Day.
The challenge turned into a family fun day as parents and guardians cheered on the young athletes with great enthusiasm. Coaches and educators also played a significant role by ensuring the safety of the learners and guiding them throughout the matches. Players aged seven, eight and nine representing Akademie Reformia, Curro Heuwelkruin, Laerskool Krugerpark, Laerskool Louis Trichardt, Laerskool Marble Hall, Mitchell House, Laerskool Messina, Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS), PEPPS Preparatory School, Pietersburg Laerskool, Laerskool Tzaneen and the hosts.
Oosskool Principal Gideon Pelzer indicated that it was a privilege to host the mini hockey day and welcomed everyone present. He remarked that mini hockey provides the excitement and the enthusiasm enjoyed by young players. The day was not about winning but about fun and enjoying the game, he explained.
Pelzer further said the support from parents and visitors was overwhelming and also thanked the sponsors for extending a helping hand.
