Polokwane Municipality has alerted consumers on Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) having stopped pumping from the Olifantspoort Plant due to a leak on the Specon pipe line earlier this morning (Thursday) and that water shortages may be experienced.
According to Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo, LNW indicated that it will take four hours to repair the pipeline. “Normal water supply will be restored once LNW is done with the repairs,” Mothapo said.
To compound the situation, pumping from the Ebenezer Dam is also scheduled to be terminated between 11:00 and 13:00 due to load shedding and all areas of supply may be affected.
“Consumers in areas receiving water are urged to use water sparingly and the municipality will provide regular updates through the municipal communication platforms and traditional media channels in terms of progress on this issue,” Mothapo added.
“The municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience and cooperation of all,” Mothapo concluded.
