Operation Swara Tsotsi which has proven successful with more than 8 000 arrests since its launch at the end of June was rolled out by law enforcers in the Mopani District on Friday.
Under the leadership of Transport and Community Safety MEC Dickson Masemola and acting Provincial Police Commissioner Jan Scheepers officers hit the streets and arrested 131 suspects within hours in the Musina and Giyani areas.

Some of the expired goods found to have been on sale at a shop in Giyani.

According to Departmental Spokesperson Joel Seabi big quantities of dagga were confiscated and destroyed, a taxi driver arrested after caught transporting 44 commuters and three shops were closed for selling expired goods and operating illegally in Giyani.
In Musina a multidisciplinary team of provincial traffic officials, Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) members as well as the Police and officials of the Department of Home Affairs targeted motorists at the weighbridge where 32 fines were issued, 155 vehicles stopped and searched, 105 vehicles weighed and three taxis, a bus and two bakkies impounded, according to Seabi. Three warrants of arrest were also executed.
