Mitchell House learners gathered in the school’s theatre last Monday to witness the handing over of awards to Grade 12 learners for achievements during their final year.
The school’s top achiever was undoubtedly Rameez Omar, who was this year’s head boy and who received the Dux Award as top academic pupil. He also received academic subject awards for Accounting, Advanced Programme Mathematics, Afrikaans, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physical Science. Rameez also shared the John Hudson Award for learners who most exemplifies the spirit and ethos of Mitchell House with Lebo Petje.
Mitchell House headmaster Andrew Cook congratulated the achievers and wished them well for the coming examinations. “Deriving pleasure from diversity instead of fearing it, could not be more relevant than it is in the South Africa of today. Diversity at Mitchell House begins with inclusion that has long been a feature of our school. The Enrichment Centre allows our children to notice that we are made differently and that we have different abilities but are all deserving of respect and of being valued,” Cook said.
