The murder of Makhubele comes within days of the stabbing and alleged rape of TVET student Precious Ramabulana and the MEC for Social Development, Nkakareng Rakgoale in a statement called on residents to stand up and say enough is enough. “This happens at a time when we observe 16 Days of Activism of No Violence Against Women and Children and I want to echo President Cyril Ramaphosa’s statement that there’s a societal problem which needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.”

She further called on the courts not to grant the accused bail.

Social workers have been dispatched to the area to immediately start providing psycho-social support services to the family of the deceased and those affected by the incident, Rakgoale concluded.
