Drunk drivers arrested during day one of road safety campaign

The arrests were made between last night and this morning at a roadblock outside of the city.

POLOKWANE –  The official launch of the Festive Season Road Safety Campaign, #KushubileLatelaMolao (follow the rules), was preceded by the arrest of  10 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and the discontinuation of at least seven vehicles which were found unroadworthy.

The arrests were made between last night and this morning at a roadblock outside of the city.

At the launch of the campaign at the Peter Mokaba Stadium today (Monday, 2 December), MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Dickson Namane Masemola says these arrests are just the beginning and a demonstration of what is to come in the next few weeks.

The campaign will be conducted through various roadblocks throughout the province and the MEC called on road users to adhere to the rules of the road.
