People who love bikes and loud exhaust sounds made their way to the Polokwane Show Grounds on Saturday for the annual X1 Sapa Yopa Motor Cycle Club’s (MCC) rally that attracted over 4 000 bikers from as far as Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Angola and Iceland.
Just before noon, traffic on the N1 was brought to a standstill to allow for the more than 4 000 bikers escorted by traffic Police to proceed to the old Peter Mokaba Stadium where some formalities were observed. The bikers proved that they were good at what they do when they performed stunts ahead of the mass ride.

Sapa Yopa MCC President Lesiba Chuene indicated that this was the 11th edition of the rally and that they were happy with the turnout.
He added that they were delighted to have hosted 40 bikers from Malawi and 11 from Zimbabwe who rode about 4 700 km from their respective countries to Polokwane and another 4 700 km back to their countries. He reiterated that Zimbabwe was represented by three clubs while one biker came all the way from Iceland to attend the rally.
“The Southern African Development Community really supported the gathering. The festivities started with a gala dinner on Friday followed by the main event on Saturday and on Sunday the after party that continued until Monday. We were entertained by artists such as Makhadzi, Khuli Chana K.O and many other local musicians. We would like to thank all the riders, sponsors and everyone who made the rally a great success,” Chuene stated.
