Makola’s dream is a car rental company for everyone

He says he wants to bridge the gap by establishing an entity in the community which can attract new business opportunities in order to prevent further job losses in the province

POLOKWANE – One would think that starting a car hire business without any cars is crazy, but for Mosebo Makola, the dream has only just begun. The 28-year-old from Ga-Dikgale started Mosebo Car Hire in 2007 in an attempt to bring the wonders of car rental to the rural areas of Polokwane.

“I always wanted my own business and I started Mosebo Car Hire by outsourcing cars from my friends to get by. I have eight cars and I know that all my hard work has paid off.”

Mosebo says he wanted to bridge the gap within the district by establishing an entity in which the community is able to feed, thereby attracting new business opportunities in order to prevent further job losses in the province.

“My clients are mostly tourists, funeral parlours and newlyweds. I believe in rendering services with efficiency and effectiveness. Our services grew at a fast rate and we expanded to luxury vehicles too,” he told BONUS.

He added that Polokwane’s population growth has also been a factor in establishing his business and that his aim is to provide good, up-to-standard vehicles and efficient service.

Mosebo said his biggest dream is to own a big car hire franchise in the province.

“I would like to see my business grow and my mission is to create a car hire company that will cater for every individual, rich or poor, and to elevate the structure and views of the car hire industry,” he said.

Mosebo encourages the youth who are unemployed to stand up and do something for themselves.

“The only way to improve our lives is to work hard. To own this kind of business needs strong vision. Do not rely on government, if you have the chance to use your hands to create a job then do it. Government cannot employ us all, so we all need to do something for ourselves to create a job,” he concluded.
