Mphahlele couple has the secret to a successful marriage and business
Running a business as a married couple might not be easy, but Anikie and Irish Mphahlele says they always find a way to work together in order for their business to flourish and succeed without hiccups.
LIMPOPO – The duo founded their furniture business Tlanggape Creations (meaning call or come again), in 2010 and say that working with your spouse adds another level of complexity to a business and enhances marriage in every way. Tlanggape Creations manufactures furniture from scratch with their products ranging from beds and headboards to ottomans, storage kists, chaises as well as wooden and glass pulpits, to name a few. “Our service and quality of products mean we get returning customers,” said Irish.
Anikie told BONUS that when working with your spouse, one needs to differentiate between being a husband and wife at home and being business partners at work, as you need to commit and dedicate all your time into day to day operations of the business and leave it there at the end of the day. “We know how to navigate the good, the bad and the ugly, so that way, our marriage and business thrives,” they added. Irish explains that a business of this nature needs one to know and understand its dynamics.
“Anyone interested in running this kind of business should do thorough research about market trends, also taking into consideration the recession that’s encountered,” he advised.
