#WFD – Macaroni Carbonara with Bacon and Cream

POLOKWANE – Spice up your classic old macaroni recipe by turning it into a delicious carbonara.

Carbonara is an Italian pasta dish from Rome made with egg, hard cheese, Italian bacon, and pepper. The recipe is not fixed, with any sort of hard cheese, and any kind pasta acceptable.

Ingredients

  1. 250ml cream
  2. 200g bacon, roughly chopped
  3. 250g macaroni
  4. 1 x KNORR Bacon Carbonara Flavour Pasta Sauce
  5. 250g cheddar cheese, grated
  6. fresh herbs (for garnish)

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  2. Add pasta, cook for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain.
  3. Place the pasta in a large bowl.
  4. In a pan fry the bacon until extra crispy.
  5. Reduce heat to a simmer.
  6. In a jug whisk together cream and KNORR Bacon Carbonara Pasta Sauce sachet contents.
  7. Add to the bacon, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  8. Pour the sauce over the pasta.
  9. Sprinkle with cheese and stir until the pasta is evenly coated.
  10. Garnish with fresh herbs.
