Grade 12 learners from various high schools in the city had an opportunity to inquire about various careers offered by different institutions of higher learning at the Hoërskool Pietersburg’s (PHS) career day last Thursday.
The learners were exposed to careers in Aviation, Human Sciences, Health, Information Technology and Law Enforcement.
Angeline Poole, Career Counsellor and Life Orientation Educator at PHS said the event was aimed at empowering, informing, educating learners and creating awareness around various careers. “This is an annual event where we invite all Grade 12 learners from various schools in the province to come and explore various careers opportunities. These students are in their final year of high school and while some have decided on the careers they will be pursuing next year others are still to decide.”
Lesego Mathole a Grade 12 learner at Noordeland High School said the event gave him an opportunity to explore other career options available at tertiary institutions. “I have not decided on what I want to study next year. I have an interest in science and economics and the staff from the various institutions were eager to help me make the right choice.”
