Arson ruled out in Discount Motor Spares fire
Owner of the building, Muaaz Farat told Bosveld he was still awaiting a final report to see what caused the fire

MOKOPANE – The Fire Department responded to a fire at Discount Motor Spares (DMS) in Thabo Mbeki Street on Saturday afternoon.
It was believed that the fire started in a corridor between the two buildings and at the time the Fire Department said arson has not be ruled out. However, after further investigations by the Fire Department’s Chief, Ben Senokwane on Sunday morning, arson was ruled out.
According to Senokwane a final report will be released soon.
Owner of the building, Muaaz Farat told Bosveld he was still awaiting a final report to see what caused the fire, Farat who lives in Polokwane visited the building this morning (Sunday) to inspect the damage.
Divesh Kara, owner of DMS said around 70% of their stock was damaged in the fire, the ceiling was badly damaged, but luckily the roof did not collapse.
Saturday, 16 May
MOKOPANE – Smoke hanged over Thabo Mbeki Street after Discount Motor Spares went up in flames today (Saturday).
The Fire Department responded within minutes to extinguish the fire. Police were notified.
It is believed that the fire started in a corridor between the buildings, but this is still being investigated, arson has not been ruled out.
Investigations continue.
