No electricity in these areas on Sunday

Due to planned maintenance by the Polokwane Municipality, some areas will be without electricity for a large part of the day.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has issued a statement in regard to a planned electricity switch-off of the Thornhill substation as well as a electricity supply interruption which will affect the Seshego area.

The switch-off at the Thornhill substation is due to work that needs to be undertaken at the substation to add panels to the existing 11 kilovolts (kV) board says Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala. The electrical supply interruption at the substation which supplies the Seshego area, is for the finalisation and connection of a metering project, he added.

Selala said the switch-off for Thornhill is scheduled for Sunday, 14 June from 06:00 and that if all goes as planned, the power will be restored by 12:00.

“The switch-off will affect the Thornhill Shopping Complex and residential area,” the statement reads.

Meanwhile, the supply interruption for Seshego is planned for 06:00 to 18:00, also on Sunday. The areas affected will be Seshego zone 1 to 8, all the Seshego extensions, Luthuli and Madiba Park, the Seshego hospital, Hospital View, the Seshego Circle Shopping Centre as well as the Seshego campus of the Capricorn TVET College.

Selala said residents in both areas should treat all electrical wiring as live during the switch-off in order to avoid injury and damage to appliances when the power is restored.

Stakeholders are urged to report electricity-related matters to the municipal call centre at (015) 290 2490/2705.
