Mogalakwena Muni closed after worker tests positive for Covid-19

The employee was earlier in contact with six other municipal employees.

MOKOPANE – An employee of the Mogalakwena Municipality has tested positive for Covid-19.

According to a statement by the divisional head of communications, Malesela Selokela, the offices of the municipality will be closed from tomorrow (28 July) as a result.

“According to the information received; the official has on Friday been in contact with six municipal employees. Two among those have symptoms but are still waiting for their results,”  Selokela said.

The Municipal Manager, Mabore Mampa, explained that essential services, such as waste removal, electricity and traffic control, will still be rendered although the offices will only resume normal operations on Monday, 3 August.

“As part of our precautionary measures; officials, customers or members of the community who wish to visit the municipal offices for various services, should not come near the municipal offices as it will be disinfected,” Mampa added.

Mampa said they “will work tirelessly to ensure that service delivery is not disrupted”.
