Tip-off leads to arrest of three robbers outside Polokwane

The men were arrested after the police received a tip-off about their whereabouts

POLOKWANE – Three men were arrested and suspected stolen goods recovered during an intelligence-led joint police operation in Mankweng outside the city on  Friday, 7 August.

Their arrest come after several business in and around Seshego policing area were broken into and robbed, recently.

“The members from the Crime Intelligence Unit jointly with the SAPS Capricorn District Task Team and the Tactical Response Team(TRT), followed up on information received regarding the whereabouts of the gang responsible for the robberies. During the operation the police managed to arrest three men, including a security officer at various locations,” said Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Several other suspects managed to evade arrest and are still being tracked, he added.

Suspected stolen goods worth over R400 000 were recovered and a vehicle presumably used during the commission of these crimes was confiscated.

Plasma TVs, compressors, music equipment, salon materials, illicit cigarettes, etc. were recovered during the operation.

Ngoepe added that the three suspects, aged between 34 and 36, are expected to appear before the Mankweng and Seshego magistrate’s courts soon on charges of burglary businesses and possession of suspected stolen properties.
