POLOKWANE – Eskom will implement Stage 2 loadshedding from 16:00 to 20:00 as the power system is severely constrained. Residents can also expect loadshedding tomorrow from 09:00 to 22:00.
The power utility says loadshedding is due to severe constraints in the power generation system as a breakdown of four units overnight and this morning at the Medupi, Duvha, Majuba and Lethabo power stations and a delay in the return to service of a unit at Medupi have resulted in the system being constrained.
“Any further deterioration in generation performance may therefore necessitate the escalation of loadshedding at short notice,” a statement read. Eskom added that the constrained power system is expected to persist for the rest of the week as the aged generation infrastructure is unreliable and volatile.
