2 dead, one seriously injured in head-on collision on R71

The driver of one of the vehicles involved fled the scene.

LIMPOPO – The driver of a sedan and a female passenger died when two sedans collided on the R71, near Tarantara in the Mopani district, this morning 4 September.

According to the Department of Transport’s Media Liaison Officer, Mike Maringa, a third passenger (female) was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

Maringa added that the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene. He confirmed that the driver has not been found yet.

“Preliminary investigations revealed reckless driving as a possible cause of the accident. The road has since been cleared for traffic,” Maringa said.
