SA’s Ocean Basket workers pay last respects to murdered franchisee, mom

The gesture coincided with a virtual memorial service held in the last hour.

POLOKWANE – Employees from Ocean Basket franchises across the country bowed their heads at 11:00 as a final remembrance to Lizette Deacon and her mother, Hettie.

Both women were murdered in the townhouse complex they stayed in, on Thursday. Lizette was the owner of both the city’s Ocean Basket franchises, and co-owner of three franchises in Gauteng.

A virtual memorial service was broadcast from 11:00 this morning.

Grace Harding, Group CEO of the Ocean Basket Group, in a statement said the Ocean Basket family was poorer because of their loss. “Ocean Basket will not be the same without you, thank you for all you have done for us and the community around you. Rest in peace Tannie Hettie and Lizette, knowing that your legacy of kindness and generosity lives on in all of those you touched.”
