POLOKWANE – The SACC have called on government to go beyond rhetoric and act against corruption. The council declared September a month of action against corruption following a silent prayer protest outside the Premier’s office on Tuesday, 15 September.

The protest was in response to Covid-19 relief fund corruption and members arrived dressed in black to best get their message across to government. SACC Limpopo Chairperson, Rev Awedzani Nemaukhwe said the SACC in Limpopo remains shocked by the way the funds, meant for the vulnerable, was allocated to those connected to power.

“We declare corruption as sin against God and God’s people. We refuse to be associated with those who think corruption should be our heritage and we declare that corruption is not our heritage as people of South Africa,” he said.

He further called for law enforcement agencies to act swiftly to bring justice and for all those implicated to step down and allow the law to take its cause, adding that whistle blowers should be protected.
