Death toll in Seshego D19 crash climbs to nine
This brings the total of road fatalities at the weekend to 12, with scores of people still receiving treatment in various hospitals.

LIMPOPO – Two more people have succumbed to injuries sustained during a head-on collision outside Seshego on Sunday morning.
The incident happened on the D19 road, near Sengatane at around 05:30.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala said two sedans were involved in the collision. “Six people died on the scene and four others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Seshego.” Three patients later succumbed to injuries sustained, he said.
Meanwhile, in the Mopani district, two people were killed when a sedan and bakkie collided along the R81 at Maphalle and in the Capricorn district, a pedestrian died after being knocked down by a minibus at Habakuk outside Lebowakgomo on Friday evening.
This brings the total of road fatalities at the weekend to 12, with scores of people still receiving treatment in various hospitals.
According to a statement issued by the department, the number of fatal crashes in the province is on a steep increase with alcohol abuse, reckless driving and over speeding being the major contributors.
With the move from Level 2 to 1 as well as the upcoming long weekend, law enforcement has been intensified across all provincial roads.
Over the past weekend alone, 746 motorists were charged for over speeding and 48 were arrested for drunk driving, reads the statement.
Transport MEC, Mavhungu Lerule Ramakhanya has urged motorists to observe the road rules. “Road users who do not abide by the rules will face the full might of the law.”
