Body with several stab wounds found in Polokwane

Police say no arrests have been made but that a case of murder has been opened

POLOKWANE – The body of a man, believed to be 39 years old, was found at the corner of Market Street and 20th Avenue in the Industrial area, this morning.

Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said the police in Polokwane have opened a case of murder following the incident.

“The police were alerted by a member of the community at around 08:00 this morning. On arrival, they found the deceased with several stab wounds. He had apparently been stabbed with a sharp object and died on the spot, but it is not clear at this stage when the man was killed,” Mojapelo said.

He added that the motive for the killing is unknown at this stage, but that robbery cannot be ruled out.

“No one has been arrested and investigations continue. The deceased has not been identified as yet and anyone with information may contact WO Gerard Kotzé on 082 744 8205,” concluded Mojapelo.
