Pair nabbed in Polokwane for ‘stealing and selling city’s water’
The duo face charges of tampering with municipal service infrastructure and water theft.
POLOKWANE – Law enforcement officers attached to the Polokwane Municipality earlier today arrested two men for drawing water illegally from a main water supply line to the city.
Thipa Selala, Municipal Spokesperson, says the men operate private water tankers, and reportedly draw water from the Lepelle Northern Water line on a regular basis. “It is believed the men then sell the water to residents and businesses in Mankweng and surrounding areas.”
He added that two water tankers, used by the men, have also been impounded.
