Thipa Selala, Municipal Spokesperson, says the municipality was told by Lepelle Northern Water that water supply form the Olifantspoort Plant will be stopped.

“The stoppage is as a result of repairs on a leaking line that supplies to the city, according to the water utility. All areas in the municipality’s supply area will be affected and areas with supply are urged to use it sparingly,” he explained.

Selala said the estimated time for the repair is two hours and that updates will be provided.

“Lepelle Northern Water will restore supply as soon as the repair is complete. Residents should report any water-related challenges to the Water and Sanitation helpline at  015 023 5376 / 5629,” he concluded.

On Monday, the municipality issued a statement to indicate that continuous power dips, loadshedding and muddy water at the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort plants have negatively impacted the water supply to Polokwane and surrounding areas.

Most reservoirs are sitting at 0% while others are below 5%.
