POLOKWANE – The police have launched a manhunt for a man who stabbed a 30-year-old resident from Greenside outside Polokwane, to death.

The body of Tshepo Daisy Makola was found in Extension 44 on Tuesday, 9 February.

Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the Spokesperson for the Police in the Limpopo, confirmed the attack and said a case of murder is being investigated by the Westenburg police. He added that the police were notified about the incident, reacted swiftly and arrived on the scene to find the deceased in a pool of blood. Investigations indicate that she was stabbed by her partner during an apparent argument.

“The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but domestic violence has not be ruled out.”

MEC for Social Development, Nkakareng Rakgoale condemned the murder and called for the police to fast-track their investigation and bring the man to book.

“It is very disturbing to hear that the attacks on women and children continue in the province, especially during a time when we are still battling the effects of the Coronavirus. The criminals who are killing women and children must be brought to book.”

A manhunt for the suspect is still underway and anyone with information that can lead to his arrest, is urged to contact the investigating officer, Lt Col Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501.
