[TAKE NOTE] Scheduled road closures along R81
The closure of the R81 mountain pass will affect motorists travelling between Polokwane and Mooketsi, says the Limpopo Traffic Department.
ex: LIMPOPO – Motorists are hereby notified of planned construction work at Ga-Sekgopo on the R81 road.
Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport, Mike Maringa says the planned construction started on Tuesday, 9 February and will take three days to complete.
“The road will be closed at Munnik from the southern side (Polokwane) and at Mooketsi on the northern side. Only light vehicles and residents of Ga-Sekgopo will be allowed to pass on the road.” He added that trucks and heavy motor vehicles will not be allowed and drivers are advised to opt for the alternative R36 Morebeng/Soekmekaar road when travelling between Polokwane and Mooketsi.
The schedule for the closures is as follows:
10 February (Wednesday) 07:30 – 16:30
11 February (Thursday) 07:30 – 16:30
