Meet-and-greet with Baby Shark

Baby Shark fever hit Polokwane on Saturday, 26 June at the city's first Baby Expo, hosted at General Piet Joubert School. Families turned out in numbers and babies and toddlers were excited to see Baby Shark, and were also given an opportunity to sing along and interact with him.

POLOKWANE – The expo included food stalls, fun activities for children and exhibitors had many products on show.

Speakers on the day included oral hygienists, Chané Alberts and Natasha van Reede van Oudtshoorn from Floss Oral Hygiene who gave tips to expectant moms on pregnancy and oral health.

“Pregnancies can lead to dental problems in some women, so caring for one’s teeth during pregnancy is important for the mother and baby’s health,” van Reede van Oudtshoorn said.

Personal trainer, Nicole Blount spoke about the importance of one’s health during pregnancy and explained that exercising reduces back pain and eases constipation for pregnant women. “Exercising promotes healthy weight gain during pregnancy, it improves your overall general fitness and strengthens your heart and blood vessels.

It also helps you lose the baby weight after your baby is born,” she said.

Other speakers included oil enthusiast and founder of My Lovely Essent Oils, Jana White, who spoke about the benefits of using oils before and after pregnancy.

She emphasised that essential oils help improve wellness and healthy living.

Dietician, Anka van Waveren, touched on nutritional advice for healthy eating, weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, infancy and childhood.

Event organiser, Isabel Steenkamp labeled the event as a success and told Polokwane Oberserver that there will definitely be another Expo in the future.

“We had a wonderful turnout and a variety of good exhibitors. Keep a lookout for more information on next year’s expo, its going to be bigger and much better. Thank you to everyone who supported, we really appreciate you all,” she said.
