Prayer against GBVF at Thy Rest

On November 20, Thy Rest Ekuphumleni Restoration Home in partnership with the Polokwane Municipality, hosted a prayer session against gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).

POLOKWANE – The session took place at SABC Park and the purpose of the service was to pray about the scourge of GBVF in Polokwane, across the province, as well as the country in its entirety.

The prayer session was open to everyone who wanted to be a part of it. Jeanette Raseluma from the Polokwane Municipality’s special focus unit said the prayer service was important in the fight against GBVF and despite the small number of attendees, the impact would be widely felt.

Nobesuthu Javu, the founder of the home said they hope the prayer session raised the altar of God against GBVF in the country.

“It is high time that we come together as children of God, as the church, and say ‘No’. We are here to raise the altar of God and destroy any other altar that calls for the blood of the women in South Africa. As children of God, we take a stand to say ‘It is enough’. All of our actions start in the spirit and manifests in the physical,” she said.
