Mothapo elected as Prisa vice president

Head of marketing and communications at Capricorn District Municipality, Phuti Mothapo, was elected as the vice president of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (Prisa).

LIMPOPO – The election took place during an annual general meeting held at Maslow Hotel in Gauteng on November 30. Mothapo, a proud and dedicated member of Prisa, is a chartered public relations practitioner and distinguished herself as a member of the Limpopo region’s executive committee. She began as an additional member and was later elected to the position of deputy chairperson.

After that she was elected unopposed to chair the region in 2017, and re-elected as chairperson in 2019. She currently is the chairperson of the Employee Sport Committee and the secretary of the South African Municipal Workers Union in the Capricorn region.

She holds an MBA and a degree in senior management programme from Turfloop Graduate School of Leadership, a Prisa public relations management certificate and Damelin fundamental project management certificate.

Mothapo said Prisa has a significant impact on academic curricula in institutions of higher learning. “This is part of the process to preserve this illustrious professional body for the future. There is an urgent need to strengthen stakeholder relations and create an environment to conduct strong collaborations,” Mothapo said.
She stated that it was essential to invest in the organisation’s research and development in order to create a financially viable and sustainable institution. ”We must begin from within. Our human resources are the most powerful tool to support the organisation’s vision and in order to realise Prisa’s goals and objectives, we must invest more in them and ensure they are better equipped in order for them to serve our organisation and its members fruitfully,” Mothapo emphasised.

Congratulating Mothapo, provincial Prisa chairman Moses Moreroa said Mothapo has devoted her time, as well as her marketing and communication expertise to Prisa in the province. “She has gone beyond and above as a member of the Limpopo region’s executive committee. I am confident that she will carry out her responsibilities with true devotion, boundless energy, and clear vision as she has done throughout her long marketing and communication career and as the head of that portfolio at the municipal level.”
