POLOKWANE – Melodies and high notes were the order of the day at Taxila Secondary School when the school hosted its first choir concert on August 12.
They invited 11 schools to celebrate the event with them.
Ithabeleng Sethobja, the music coordinator at Taxila explained that the concert was aimed at reviving choral music.
“We established our school choir last year. Today, we are celebrating its one-year anniversary and we are so grateful that we can already host 11 other choirs to join us in our celebration.”
He added that the concert was a revival of choral music and encouragement for learners to take part in music.
“The turnout was really good, and a good start although there is room for improvement. Such concerts are important since the learners have a lot of talent and we are trying by all means possible to nourish their talent,” he added.
Taxila’s principal, Tlou Ramara welcomed the choirs to the event, and encouraged learners to be on their best behaviour in order for the programme to run smoothly.
