Search operation launched for missing Seshego teen

17-year-old Matome Zeeyard Monare was last seen wearing black trousers and a jersey on October 5.

LIMPOPO – The police in Siloam outside Thohoyandou have launched a search operation for a mentally challenged teenager who went missing on October 5.

Matome Zeeyard Monare (17) from Seshego was last seen in the Fondwe village in Siloam and is said to have disappeared during a consultation at a traditional healer.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Monatse Mamabolo said both police and Monare’s family have made efforts to locate him at relatives and in surrounding areas with no success.

“He was last seen wearing black trousers and a jersey at the time of his disappearance,” a statement read.

Mamabolo urged anyone with information to contact the Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Sinyosi on 083 988 9774, the crime stop number 08600 10111, the nearest police station or the MySAPS app.

“Police investigations continue,” Mamabolo said.
