A hailstorm battered the city late on Monday afternoon (December 5), bringing lightning, thunder and hail of various sizes.

The Level 2 warning has been in place since 14:00 and will extend to 23:59 tonight.

According to the South African Weather Service, Level 2 warnings bring a high likelihood of thunderstorms with minor impact.

However, they still warn of localised flooding, large amounts of small hail, excessive lightning and strong damaging winds.

More rain is expected tomorrow with AccuWeather predicting an 87% chance of thunderstorms in the city.
