Road closures expected ahead of municipal festive lights event

The following streets will be closed from 16:00 on Friday (December 9).

POLOKWANE – Motorists in the city will have to use alternative routes in certain parts of the CBD on Friday afternoon (December 9) as road closures are expected ahead of the Festive Lights event.

The event will be hosted at the Civic Centre Park and road closures are due to a firework display.

Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala said the following streets will be affected from 16:00 for the duration of the display:

o Bodenstein between Landdros Mare and Paul Kruger;
o Church between Rabe and Thabo Mbeki;
o General Joubert between Bodenstein and Rabe
o Market between Bodenstein and Rabe and;
o Paul Kruger between Bodenstein and Rabe.

Selala has urged pet owners in the vicinity to look after their pets during the fireworks display.

“The Festive Lights event will commence at 16:00 until late,” his statement read.

Mayor John Mpe will deliver a festive message to the residents of Polokwane which will be followed by a fireworks display and live performances from
Master KG, Black Motion and other artists.

Selala added that entrance is free and no bottles will be allowed at the venue.
