LIMPOPO – Khan FC has good reason to celebrate.
They were crowned the new champions of the Kilimanjaro Super Cup.
The annual tournament is hosted in honour of Sarel Nong, who conquered Mount Kilimanjaro.
The cup is played by eight teams and was staged at the Seshego Stadium recently.

Khan FC received a cash prize of R10 000 and a floating trophy during a ceremony held at the grounds shortly after the final game.
Khan FC chairman Ezikiel Mamabolo said the team worked hard for their win.
“This is our second attempt and we have managed to win the tournament. One of the many benefits of regular exercise is increased and sustained energy throughout the day, and this was the key to our success. We feel honoured to have been in the team that honoured Seshego’s hero, Sarel Nong,” said Mamabolo.
He described the tournament as a success, adding that his players played to the best of their ability.
“We are thankful to the Kilimanjaro Super Cup for taking a stand in ensuring local sport receives the boost it needs for the development of the game. The tournament is also a great opportunity for coaches to scout for outstanding players to develop them further,” he added.
Nong congratulated the team on their victory and extended his appreciation to the community of Seshego for their support.
“It is wonderful when a community comes together to support this celebration and programmes that improve our youth,” said Nong.
Nong added that his expeditions were for the people of Limpopo, as well as South Africa.
“I am happy that the event has grown. We value and appreciate the outstanding role played by the Kilimanjaro Super Cup, in partnership with other Polokwane Social Derby (PSD), who continue to contribute positively to local sports development. Sport has the power to unite people and ring forth peace in the community,” he said.
