Seven women killed in R37 collision

Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said two other people who sustained serious injuries were transported to a nearly health facility for medical attention.

POLOKWANE – A fatal collision between a minibus taxi and a truck on the R37, Podungwane, claimed the lives of seven women on Saturday afternoon (December 17).

The cause of the collision is unknown, however, the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety reports reckless driving as a possible cause.

Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said two other people who sustained serious injuries were transported to a nearly health facility for medical attention.

Traffic volumes on Limpopo’s major routes continues to increase as motorists make their way to the province for the festive season.

One person was killed and two slightly injured when a light delivery vehicle lost control and collided head-on with truck on Friday (December 16).

The collision caused traffic congestion, with vehicles moving very slowly between Makhado and the Hendrik Verwoerd tunnel.

MEC Florence Radzilani urged motorists to obey the rules of the road for everyone to arrive alive at their respective destinations.
