The Nyl Biodiversity Dam saw 12 teams represent nine countries in the ultimate test to see who can fish the best.
MOKOPANE – A total of 54 anglers representing nine countries and consisting out of 12 teams took their fishing rods to the water to compete against each other in the second Freestyle Method Feeder World Championship of 2022.
The championship was hosted by South Africa and was held from November 29 until December 4 at the Nyl Biodiversity Dam in Mokopane.
The following countries participated in this championship: Hungary, Romania, Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, Italy, Bulgaria and South Africa.
Anglers ventured onto the waters with their fishing rods and had a blast of a time.
The competitors smiled as they left the water to weigh their catch.
The great spirit filled the air as they cheered one another on, and great friendships formed during the hard fishing work.
After five days of intense fishing, the Hungarian team was crowned as the winners of the championship.
Germany’s second team walked away in the second place and the Czech Republic team in third place.
The Hungarian team also took the first two places in the individual rankings; Péter Bakó in the first place and Bence Szabo in the second place.
Pavel Hanuš from Czech Republic was in the third place.
The South African teams did not perform as well as they wanted, and the Proteas took a sixth place on the last day of the championships.
FIPS-Ed President Prof Claudio Matteoli declared the championship closed, with much appreciation for the local organising committee and all participating anglers.
“We will see you here again next year for the Feeder Masters World Championship,” said Matteoli.
It was a successful and great championship and South Africa congratulates each winner and thanks each participating team.
