Six people including a 35-year-old driver and four passengers between the ages of eight and 15, as well as an infant died when a bakkie and a truck collided head on.
LIMPOPO – Six people were confirmed dead at the scene of a head-on collision between a bakkie and a truck this morning (December 26).
The Limpopo Department of Transport reports that the collision occurred on the stretch of road commonly known as the Manyathela curve between the Sasol Garage and the Baobab Toll Plaza on the N1.29 North in the Vhembe District.
Transport spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene said the six people who died included a 35-year-old driver, four passengers between the ages of eight and 15, and an infant.
“Law enforcement officers at the scene cite speeding as a possible cause of the crash,” her statement read.
The MEC for Transport and Community Safety Florence Radzilani has plead with all motorists to obey the rules of the road, and for everyone to arrive at their respective destinations alive.
