Drug dealer arrested in Seshego following shootout with police

A shootout between police and three suspects led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man while two fled on foot.

POLOKWANE – Crystal meth and CAT drugs were confiscated during the arrest of a 23-year-old man in Seshego Zone 4 in the early hours of Christmas morning (December 25).

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the man was arrested for alleged possession of and dealing in illicit drugs.

“Members of the local crime prevention were on patrol when they received information about three suspects in a motor vehicle selling drugs. They cautiously approached the vehicle before the suspects allegedly started firing at the police and sped off,” his statement read.

Mojapelo said a rear wheel of the vehicle was punctured after police returned fire.

“The suspects proceeded driving towards Extension 76 on the outskirts of Polokwane where two of them jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The third suspect, a passenger, was nabbed,” he said.

The suspects will appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon.
