Multiple-award winner Mike Tuney boasts a love for hip-hop
Hip-Hop artist Mike Tuney says people don't understand how much work goes into making it in the industry.
POLOKWANE – “I believe Hip-Hop embraces artistic elements and comments on life and the world and that is why it is a way of life and a culture for me,” said Mukhethwa ‘Mike Tuney’ Mukhadi.
The 23-year-old, who is also a video and music producer, joined the industry in 2013 and has since won several provincial awards.
He has 20 singles under his name, two mixtapes and an album and has worked alongside the likes of AB Crazy, Mizo Phyll, Kashflow, Sense 2.0, Maze, McSwagga and Mac J.
Mike says people don’t understand how much work goes into making it in the industry.
“People have a tendency of admiring how Hip-Hop artists ‘ball’ (spend money) but do not understand how much work actually goes into building this lifestyle in order to get to the top. Everyone has their own way of making profit and being successful. It takes time because we’re not all the same,” he said.
Mike says if you believe in yourself, dedication and hard work will get you far and encouraged up-and-coming artists to not let anyone discourage them.
He told the Polokwane Observer that most Hip-Hop artists focus on money, women and success where there are artists whose music revolves around happiness in life.
“I listened to various genres before becoming an artist, but my first love will always be RnB and hip-hop,” he said.
Mike has also shared the stage with the likes of A-Reece, Sjava, Maraza, Una Rams and more and says he’d love to perform at the Back to the City Festival and the Castle Lite Unlocks Festival.
