Deco by Sejalula empowers women to thrive in the business-world
The owner of Melidah Events Makgatso Petja said her business would be nothing had it not been for the skills learnt at the Deco by Sejalula workshops.
POLOKWANE – The proud owner of Melidah Events Makgatso Petja said her business would not be running today if it wasn’t for the Deco by Sejalula workshops.
Petja learnt her skills during the workshop which is hosted by passionate florist and businesswoman Seja Sehaswana in and out of Polokwane to empower women to start their own ventures independently.
Melidah Events specialises in kiddies events and was established in 2022.
Petja said the business, which she runs with her siblings, is named after her late mother in remembrance and honour of her.
“The overall experience and work I learnt from the workshop has provided me with a refined skill-set that changed my career path. Today I have my own company because of Deco by Sejalula and I’m proud to say I was empowered by a woman,” she said.
Petja mastered her skills in flower arrangement as well as decor and said she learnt a lot during the workshop.
“During the first floral workshop I attended, I learnt about what goes into planning an event and from that I was able to plan and host my daughter’s first birthday party which looked beautiful,” she said.
She has since bought more equipment in order to expand the business and can be found on Facebook.
